The Socratic seminars that our class conducted really opened my eyes to different topics. It first, i thought that it would be extremely challenging to keep a conversation going in a class full of taciturn teenagers, but then quickly realized that once an essential question is asked, it's hard to not participate and try to answer it. These discussions could have easily lasted longer than the 40 minutes of class time given to us, and it would have been interesting to see where they would have gone, but I feel content with where all of our conversations went. We explored a wide variety of topics, from school shootings and violence to fear in the media. The Socratic seminars have really changed my outlook on certain topics, and I can't wait to conduct another one.
